Further is a traveling laboratory for experiential hospitality and collaborative culture launched in 2017 by Design Hotels.

Hotels across the globe are transformed into temporal, purpose-driven hubs of co– creation across a range of diverse disciplines. Part creative residency, part cultural exchange, part immersive hospitality experiment, Further brings together artists, writers, scientists, artisans, farmers, designers and other place-makers in support of research, conversation and collaboration.

Born from the central insight that a hotel can be far more than mere accommodation, Further turns them into platforms for site-specific exploration, bringing diverse creative communities into deep dialogue with the history, culture, and local community of a destination.

Destinations 2019 include New York City, Mykonos, Ibiza, Marrakech, Tokyo, Marfa, Austin, and Los Angeles.

In collaboration with Sleeper Magazine and the Ibiza Preservation Foundation, Further Thoughts: The Evolution of the Farm addresses various questions around contemporary agriculture, the slow food movement, and sustainable modes of eating.

The programme will kick off with a talk by Chris Sanderson, co-founder and CEO of world-leading strategic foresight consultancy The Future Laboratory  on ‘Health Futures and Wellness’

Guests will then have the option to join four different guided experiences, from a farm walk with Andy Szymanowicz, an expert in biodynamic agriculture who oversees La Granja’s 20 tiered acres of pine and citrus forests and fertile gardens, to a talk on La Granja’s culinary offerings with kitchen master José Catrimán.

Conversations with some of Ibiza’s most important placemakers will discuss the evolution of nightlife, hospitality and personal wellbeing.

Healthy, farm-grown food will be served throughout the day, concluding with a communal dinner and drinks with musical and artistic performances including the Anatolian psychedelic sounds of Istanbul-based Islandman.
